It was strictly written for the PC and consoles, period.ĭiablo 4 is another title purely written for PC and console.Īny new remasters that take advantage of toolsets found exclusively on the PC or a console is never going to see the light of day on a Mac. The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Old stuff may continue to be supported on the Mac, but new stuff… truly using a different architecture, will not. How many companies develop Mac games for the desktop? Actually develop games, not port games? If you stopped at one name, you have your answer. Now mobile, that’s a different story entirely. Now that the new Macs no longer run bootcamp (it is highly unlikely that Apple will entertain the idea), it’s either pray some emulator is cable of running Windows virtually or expect, without any real surprise, that down the road a bit, there will be no Mac support whatsoever. If WoW 2.0 ever became a thing, it would definitely NOT include the Mac platform. The only reason it still runs on a Mac now is because the architecture still supports it to a degree. The day they decide to overhaul the architecture is the day Macs officially lose support. Like all big businesses… they’re not going to tell you their road map.
I’d like to see a classic version of every WoW expansion on its own server like they have done with Classic era and soon TBC. I could play any expansion of WoW I wanted without it having been changed over the years to accommodate later expansion changes.
It’s like truly pulling an old game CD off the shelf and loading it up for nostalgia sake. If that is why they brought on the Everquest leader to run the team, then that strategy I believe will pay out in spades for them for years to come. That sort of setup is far more appealing than retail WoW today is anyway.
No rushing to get this or that done before patch whatever. No time gating because everything is in place already. The way the game was meant to be played… find a home in whatever expansion you choose and stay there for as long as you like knowing it is never going to change on you for all perpetuity. Imagine the number of people who are hitting retirement age that are going to be looking for ways to spend their time. There are going to be far more people in retirement than actually working real soon. The WoW zealots among them would gladly waltz through WoW from start to finish over the course of a decade. It’s the only hope for the Mac platform I am afraid.Example screenshot of some awesome War2USA fun times! RAAIt’s a different kind of market yes, but one that honestly costs them less to run.
